Cryptocurrencies, the most well-known of which is BitCoin, is a managed payment system dispersed over a network. This is upheld by blockchain technology – for example, the authenticity of the data is secured thanks to the difficulty of the encryption. Because cryptocurrency is managed voluntarily by those participating in the system, it is not affected by factors like a nation’s policies or a region’s stability. In spite of the fact that it has no physical existence, it is gathering attention as a way of dispersing funds in countries with rampant inflation. In this class, we will gain exposure to part of this technology and pull it within our grasp as we gain a new understanding of its importance. Our goal is not simply to study this technology, but to also consider, write about, and explain it.
ビットコインに代表される暗号資産は、ネットワーク上で分散して管理される決済システムです。これを支えるのがブロックチェーン技術であり、例えば暗号の計算困難さによりデータの信用が担保されています。暗号資産は任意の参加者全体により運営されており国の方針や地域の治安などの影響を受けないため、実体のないデータであるにも関わらず、特にインフレの激しい国では資産の有効な疎開先として注目されました。この科目では、そのような情報技術の一端に触れ、その重要性を再認識しつつ、わたしたちの手の届くところに引き寄せることを目的とします。技術をただ学ぶだけではなく、課題に基づいた制作を行い、また、それについて考え、記述し、説明することまでを行います。
